An LED video wall is a different product from a scoreboard, even though the underlying panel technology is related. A scoreboard shows game state to a crowd a hundred yards away. A video wall shows content to people standing close enough to read it — which changes almost every specification decision.
The honest answer is ambient light. A projector needs a dim room; the image washes out as soon as you turn the lights up or open a door. An LED wall generates its own light, so it holds contrast in a bright sanctuary or a lobby with a glass frontage, and it does not need a throw distance, a lamp replacement schedule, or a ceiling mount in the middle of the room.
The tradeoff is upfront cost. A projector is cheaper on day one. An LED wall wins over a decade on brightness, maintenance, and the fact that it works in the room you actually have rather than the room a projector needs.
For an indoor wall, viewing distance drives pitch and pitch drives cost, more sharply than any other decision. A rough rule: the closest viewer should be no nearer than about a meter per millimeter of pitch. A 2.5mm wall reads cleanly from around eight feet; a 10mm outdoor-grade panel needs thirty feet before it stops looking like a grid.

A video wall is only as good as what runs on it, and the honest failure mode is a beautiful display showing a static logo for three years because nobody owned the content. Before we quote, we want to know who will run it week to week and what they are comfortable with. Sometimes the right answer is a simpler display and a workflow the volunteer team will actually use.
Indoor walls mount to a wall or a freestanding frame, both of which need to carry real weight and stay flat — a wall that bows by a few millimeters across its face shows visible seams. Panels also need service access, whether that is clearance behind for rear service or front-serviceable panels where there is no room behind. Getting that wrong turns a twenty-minute panel swap into a scaffolding job.
